The ‘Shark Tank’ Investor Who Built a $200 Million Property Empire
Robert Herjavec says his purchases from New York to Australia were driven less by his business instincts and more by his desire to live in homes he actually likes

It was a week before Robert Herjavec and his wife, Kym Herjavec, were set to move with their now 7-year-old twins into their new Montana winter home, and the couple still didn’t know what to do with the property’s large indoor racquetball court. The family didn’t play racquetball, and it felt like a lot of space to sit unused.
Robert came up with an idea at the 11th hour. He called his interior designer, Stephanie Balvin, with an ambitious ask: “I want the biggest rock climbing wall that’s ever been built [in a home] in Montana,’” he told her. Balvin rushed to bring in contractors, who installed the wall in just a week. By the time the family arrived, Balvin had laid out climbing gear to surprise the twins. “It was a wow moment,” she said.
