The owners acquired about 200 acres around the historic Berkshires property, which dates back to the 18th century

uring a ski trip to the Berkshires in the late 1960s, MaryAnn and William Roston came across a dilapidated circa-1798 farmhouse. They weren’t looking to buy in Massachusetts, but the New York City-based couple couldn’t resist the idea of bringing the historic New Marlborough estate back to life, says their daughter, Caroline St. George.

Built by farmer Thomas Shepard, the estate is believed to have served as a residence, farm and local meeting place until the mid-1900s, according to the National Register of Historic Places.
