House of the Week: A Historic Storybook House on California’s Coast

The owners spotted the 1925 Tudor Revival-style home while on a road trip that brought them to Carmel Highlands

The home features Storybook architecture, which is known for stone chimneys and curved roofs.

While road-tripping along California’s coast in 1986, John and Beth Neidel stayed overnight in Carmel Highlands, a community just south of Carmel-by-the-Sea, a small city known for its architecture, art and culture.

On a morning walk, the couple from Pennsylvania spotted a Storybook home, says their daughter, Linnah Neidel. The style has distinct features such as a stone chimney and curved roof. LEARN MORE…
