Real-estate developer Mike Watkins, 52, has always loved cars. His father raced a 1964 Corvette and Watkins and his identical twin brother once owned matching Mustangs.

But he really caught the racing bug around 2014, when he signed a deal to build a small housing development in Monticello, N.Y., a village in the Catskill region north of New York City. A partner who operated the Monticello Motor Club next door invited him to drive around its track with one of their instructors. LEARN MORE…
